I like Derrick's idea of using the 2 bid system on RFA'S and unlimited bidding with $ 500K increments on UFA'S.

As much as I dislike the 2 bid system I could live with that as well Tom. The last bidder doesn't have the advantage as much since the the original RFA's GM has the final say.

I'd support the proposal from Derrick of a two-bid system for Restricted Free Agents and unlimited bidding for Unrestricted Free Agents with $500K increments if that's a middle-ground option.

It just seems like that may be the best option. Restricted free agency is by definition somewhat restrictive. I feel like this would be the best middle ground for both sides to get what they want.

Getting back to this...
I just re-read the thread and I believe there are 3 things we will be voting on before we start FA on the 18th.
1) Possibly changing the 2 bid system 2) Possibly suspending Cuts during FA 3) Possibly giving minor leaguers that are drafted a different contract structure
Also...there was talk this year and last of maybe coming up with a different scale for compensation picks other than the one that was voted in to make it less arbitrary. I'm fine with what was voted in but if someone wants to convince us that a different scale is better I am all ears. It will have to be done fast though as the official polls will go up soon.
For reference these were the 2 rule changes that go into effect this year:
2017 1)Each team will have 2 franchise tags per season instead of 1.
2)We will have a new compensation pick system in which the team signing a franchise tagged player loses a 4th round pick(or lowest/worst pick if they do not have a 4th). If a team has no picks in the current season they will lose their lowest/worst pick in the following season. Maximum of 1 lost pick no matter how many franchise tagged players they sign.
The team declining to match receives a compensation pick based on the AAS(Average Annual Salary) in which his franchise tagged player was signed for. The scale is below:
$5M or less = Compensation Pick After 4th round $5.25M-$10M = Compensation Pick After 3rd round $10.25M-$15M = Compensation Pick After 2nd round $15.25M or higher = Compensation Pick After 1st round
If anyone else has any issues with league rules/settings/dynamics that you would like us to vote on or maybe something that was already discussed and I overlooked please let me know ASAP as I'm probably going to put the polls up on Friday.
Thanks,
Keith

I'd like to request the compensation after rd 1 be the actual qualifying offer that the MLB uses I believe it was around 16 million if I'm not Istaken this year.
