I think the years adds another aspect to the bidding. So do I. Just a suggestion as we do it in some other leagues I'm in. My main concern is uniform increments. Other than that we can do it however you guys want to. The only thing I won't do is have total dollars count instead of AAS without a contract years cap as well. Otherwise a team could sign everyone to 6 year deals with higher total dollars than a legit overpay on AAS and still win the bid then quit the next year and leave the team in ruins. Not that anyone here would do that with that intention but I've seen it ruin leagues. Regardless of opinions, good to get discussion going on here. Less than 100 days until the new season

Is this directed at the Mariners because I assure you I was not tanking! I had a perfect storm of injuries and bad draft picks (just like real club) so I apologize if anyone thought I was tanking.
Thanks
Rob

No, the tanking was other teams.

There are two things I take away from this:
1) This is a great league that is always growing and the discussion helps the league grow.
2) Dan Vogelbach will never be an MLB first baseman, but he sure as shit can be on my softball team. Thank you Keith for promising caviar and porn stars when you traded him to me all the while comparing him to Kyle Schwarber. Well, it worked, nice trade! Or was that Moneyball?! Shit, I have him in both leagues!!!!!

I think Keith is secretly a used car salesman.

Agree Tom...why else would I agree to trade for Vogelbach!? The Force is strong with him! Do not be seduced by the Dark Side as I was!!

The best is I just checked and I got Vogelbach from the Reds...apologies Keith! You were unintentionally thrown under the Mariner team bus!!!
P.S. Let’s talk trade soon!

1) I support $250K bidding intervals for RFA, UFA, and in-season FA across the board and the elimination of bidding limits. The concerns/issues with unlimited bidding are largely overblown. Although, I don't think removing years from the bidding process is the best approach.
2) I support tanking reform and would get on board with Keith's suggestion. While not perfect, there's unlikely to ever be an option that both prevents tanking across the board and gives teams the necessary control to do what's best for their team.
3) Adding Walks or removing Hits works for me.

In other news the new Rangers owner had to drop out due to life circumstances. If anyone has any suggestions/recommendations let me know. If not I will wait a few days and grab a guy off the forums who seems like a solid manager.

We're full again. Philip will be taking over the Rangers and should be a solid addition to the league as he has prior experience playing in contract/salary leagues. Welcome Philip!

What do you guys want to do about the Shohei Otani debacle? Read this if you aren't aware of how yahoo is handling him. sports.yahoo.com/news/shohei-ohtanis-status-yahoo-fantasy-baseball-012323575.htmlShould we: 1)Make whoever drafts him use up two roster spots in order to roster him. 2)Allow a Shohei Otani-Pitcher and Shohei Otani-Hitter to be drafted separately 3)Switch to fantrax because we wouldn't have to deal with Options 1 or 2

Option #1
How will they handle him in the league. If he starts the game pitching and is their DH, if / when he get pulled off the mound he's technically out of the game so does that mean he has to relinquish his DH spot?
Interesting ....

Didn't even think of that scenario. I just figured he'd hit on the days he's not pitching.

I would prefer a 4th option where we let the owner freely change between rostering Otani-pitcher and Otani-hitter, allowing the owner to use him in a real-world way. Otherwise option 3 and 1 in that order.

Marty I believe if he is used as a pitcher abd no dh is used in the al. Every pitcher must hit or they have to use a pinch hitter if they choose.

I like option 1, because I’m assuming that Yahoo will at some point in the future, solve this problem. Somewhat solution for this season only. Can we expand the yahoo rosters for this season only, and only allow whoever has him to use that extra spot?
