The main goal of this league is to have to think more like a GM than you do in a standard online fantasy league by adding player contracts, salary caps, minor leagues, free agency, etc.
It will be more challenging and more time-consuming than a standard league, and most importantly, more fun!
As a GM in this league, you will be mirroring many of the decisions that real life GM's have to make. We won't be mirroring MLB exactly, but enough to make us think and appeciate what a real GM really does. I still want to keep the league simple enough so that someone who has never done one of these leagues can join and be able to pick up on what's going on without feeling too overwhelmed, as that is not the goal. So we won't be incorporating things like arbitration, Rule 5 Draft, August waiver deadlines or anything like that.
The league will be run on Yahoo! and all of our information will be stored on this website.
It will be a 20 team Dynasty that will run for many years.
The League will be a Head-to-Head(One-Win) league. For those of you not familiar with this, it basically means whoever wins more scoring categories for the week gets the win. Whether you win the week 22-0 or 12-10, you only get credit for 1 win. So after Week 1 you will either be 1-0 or 0-1 instead of 22-0, 0-22, 12-20, 10-12 like in most Head-to Head Leagues that award a win for every single category. Last year was the first year that I ever did a Head-to-Head(One Win) league and I was a little set in my ways/leery of even trying it. I'm glad I did because it was a blast! Every week was so competitive and meaningful since there are only 22 weeks in the regular season. So anyway that's the main reason I wanted to incorporate Head-to-Head(One Win) into this league. If you are thinking of joining, don't let this be the dealbreaker because it's kind of new or different. I promise you it's a lot of fun.
The expectations I have of you as a GM are to be active and have fun. Like any league, the more active it is, the more fun it will be. Please don't join if you know you aren't going to be active or if you are going to quit after 1 year.
